On The Ground
A high-functioning Board can be an incredible asset to a Founder/CEO and a company as it navigates non-stop challenges through each new stage of growth. Conversely, a dysfunctional one can create gridlock, friction, and erode trust while stymying progress. Getting it right is a delicate balance, and theoretically up to the CEO to manifest. We hear stories from both camps every week.
In “**A Founder’s Guide to Building and Managing a Board”,** Carly Newhouse and Halle Tecco break down everything from the purpose of a Board, when to form one, how to structure it, and how to make it high-functioning.
In Aequitas’ contribution to the piece, we discuss the importance of filling that independent seat early, and thoughtfully, before the opportunity to do so disappears. It’s an incredible opportunity to get leaders into the business who couldn’t or wouldn’t otherwise join full time, while diversifying perspectives and building a Board that accelerates the company.
